Raw Materials
The raw materials system consists of 4/6 steel hoppers positioned right next to the furnace. Normally, the following 4 types of raw materials are used for the production of stone wool: basalt, dolomite, slag and coke (coke is only used for cupola furnace). There is a vibrator underneath each hopper that feeds the materials to the electronic scales. There is one electronic scale for each pair of hoppers, and there is one vibrator underneath each electronic scale that feeds the material to the conveyor belt. The materials are transported to a batch cart by the conveyor belt, then the cart climbs up the machine frame and pours the materials through the mouth of the furnace (melter). Each batch cart can hold up to 500-700kg of materials.
Vibrators and electronic scales are controlled by our state-of-the-art PLC system. It allows precise control of the weight of each material for each batch, adjustment of the vibrations’ power, as well as long-term storage of the data for each batch for the purpose of calculation of the input materials, calculation of the costs of the plant as well as information on the composition of the production for a particular day.
