Heat Exchanging
Our heat exchange system is a result of years of experience and constant innovations. It consists of vertically installed heat exchangers for high and low temperature.
After their initial cooling and filtration, the exhaust gases from the cupola are ignited into the ignition chamber for the use of their residual thermal energy. Then, they enter the lower part of the high temperature heat exchanger. Thanks to our unique design, during the normal operation of the cupola, we can heat fresh air up to 450-500 ℃ through the high temperature heat exchanger, which air we use to feed the burning of the cupola. By using this hot air we can produce high-quality stone wool with fewer resources.
After passing through the high temperature heat exchanger, the gases are directed upwards and pass through the low temperature heat exchanger, where the pipes with the airflow for heating the curing system go through. This air heats up to 300 ℃ and it’s the reason we can save up to 1500 cubic meters of natural gas per 24 hours to our customers, making only 1 to 2 of the 4 burners in the curing system work simultaneously.
Energy efficiency is a key element for the development of our stone wool systems, and the heat exchangers system is one of the most important elements to achieving this efficiency.
